Marilyn Jones has worked professionally as a designer and art director for over 30 years. She is an Associate Professor at Lehigh and oversees the Graphic Design concentration. She earned her MFA from Marywood University and her BFA from Syracuse University in Visual Communications. In addition, she holds a BS in Art Education from Kutztown University. Prior to coming to Lehigh, Marilyn served as the creative director of her own design firm. She developed strategic design solutions for clients across a spectrum of industries including Fortune 500 companies in the telecommunication, pharmaceutical, and publishing industries, as well as non-profit organizations and other institutions. A partial client list includes AT&T, Alcatel-Lucent, Sonofi Pasteur, Johnson and Johnson, Architectural Digest, The Rockwell Museum, Oxford University Press, and Reed Publishing.
She has received numerous awards in the areas of identity, print and book design. She continues to serve a select group of clients including Lehigh University Press, where she has designed over 75 books, published by Rowman & Littlefield.
Marilyn presents papers addressing the Future of Design Education at various conferences including those sponsored by the College Book Arts Association, the University College Designers Association, and FATE: Foundations in Art: Theory and Education.
In addition, she serves as the adviser for FUSION, Lehigh’s student design agency, formed to give students the opportunity to interact with clients and learn the process of design through real world projects.
